{"id":40,"date":"2017-01-20T18:24:38","date_gmt":"2017-01-20T16:24:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/y-richter.de\/?p=40"},"modified":"2017-01-20T18:24:38","modified_gmt":"2017-01-20T16:24:38","slug":"musical-midi-siren","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/y-richter.de\/?p=40","title":{"rendered":"Musical midi siren"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I wondered why i have never seen anyone making music with a siren so i had to try it myself.<br \/>\nIt was started when i browsed thingiverse and found a nice little siren model and i had all the parts i needed around.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gV5PGPk7PoA\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The interface is based on an arduino micro as a midi interface to generate a ppm signal to use with hobby escs based on incoming notes.<br \/>\nIf the esc and motor respond quickly enough and hold the speed well it can be used as a (probably terrible) instrument.<br \/>\nI was pretty surprised how well it actually workded and expected it to be much worse.<br \/>\nThe speed is not really regulated other than by the calibrated esc and a fixed voltage source and the spin up and down time depends on the inertia of the rotor and how good the esc can brake.<br \/>\nFast quadcopter escs and a strong motor are preferred for this.<br \/>\nSome escs offer closed loop speed controlling which would be even better.<br \/>\nI have used a cheap racerstar lite 20A esc running blheli and a spare 2204 multistar elite 2300kv motor.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/IlCgn9LvN9c\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cFIFRXfjqnw\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I wondered why i have never seen anyone making music with a siren so i had to try it myself.
